| Rather than crawling my database driven / dynamic eCommerce site, can I supply FusionBot with my indexable data exported directly from my database? |
In addition to crawling websites and extracting content from HTML based pages (default method), FusionBot also provides for data-extraction based indexing as well.
Data-extraction based indexing provides for more accurate indexing and results refinement, as well as the ability to custom define specific "database" like fields for displaying, searching, and sorting within the search results. Extraction enables
database driven sites to offer a database-like search experience while benefiting from the enhanced speed, features, and functionality that an index based search function offers as compared to a SQL driven search query.
Dynamic driven, eCommerce related shopping / catalog based sites and forums benefit the most from FusionBot's data-extraction based indexing, as crawl-based spidering technologies can tend to get caught within infinite
loops when indexing dynamic content. While many indexing problems can be addressed through robots exlcusion syntax, many times
it is best, when possible, to simply eliminate these potential issues all together by supplying your data directly to FusionBot for indexing.
The creation of an extract file provides for a more robust and accurate representation of your items, while at the same time reducing load and bandwidth requirements on your hosting provider / server. It can also save money in terms of your package level requirements, since the only content indexed is exactly that which you want indexed and therefore provide to us.
We can work with you to either remotely, from our side, extract the requested data directly from your database in the format we desire, or, have your technical team create a custom extract file and host the file on your server for FusionBot to retrieve and build your index upon on a scheduled basis.
The data-extraction method provides the added benefit of being able to define custom fields for re-displaying specific database type fields as part of each matching result, such as price, item number, brand, etc.
The following sites are examples of a retail customers using the data-extract approach, where, as mentioned above, custom "database like" fields are displayed within the search results for fields such as product-thumbnails, retail price, product id, and more:
